Ceres FC fails to fire at home, settles for goalless draw against Felda United

    Mar 15, 2017

CERES-NEGROS FC dropped precious points at home as it was dragged into a goalless draw against Felda United in the 2017 AFC Cup Group Stages on Wednesday.

The hosts struggled to break through the stingy backline of the Malaysian side at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod, just a week after scoring five against Tampines Rovers.

Instead, it was the visitors who had the clearer chances at a goal - first after earning a penalty in the 60th minute through Norshahrul Idlan Talaha who dissected the Ceres backline with class from the left flank.

Fortunately for the hosts, 'keeper Roland Muller took care of that as he saved Lucas Cano's poor penalty, diving right to keep the game goalless.

Cano once again had the perfect chance to put his squad ahead but his attempt inside the box went off-target with the goal at his mercy.

"We knew Felda is a strong team. We struggled a bit in the end and we didn't have a goal," said Muller. "But I'm very very happy with 0-0, next game we'll look to get all three points."

With the result, Ceres is now tied with Hanoi FC at the top of Group G with five points apiece. The Vietnamese side earlier dropped Tampines Rovers 4-0 in Hanoi.
