NEIL Etheridge again came up with a penalty save and Cardiff City forced a goalless draw with 10-man Newcastle United to pick up its first points on Saturday in its second match in the Premier League.
The Filipino-British goalkeeper was made to work hard in the first half and had to face Brazil’s Kenedy in injury time as a penalty was awarded when Yoshinori Muto’s cross hit the hand of Cardiff City’s Sean Morrison.
It was far from a strong delivery, however, by the Brazilian, and the promoted Bluebirds came away with their first point their return to the top flight.
Etheridge, the Philippine Azkals No. 1, had a fine debut, making a penalty save in becoming the first Southeast Asian to play in the English top flight, but Cardiff bowed to Bournemouth.
