SUPER Bowl 48, the biggest sporting event in the United States, will be brought live to Filipino viewers this February 3 via TV5 starting at 7:30 a.m.
The ultimate game of the National Football League (NFL) will be held at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with the Denver Broncos going up against the Seattle Seahawks - the first time the showpiece will be played outdoors in a cold-climate city.
Filipino-American Doug Baldwin, who traces his roots to Tacloban, Leyte, will be someone to watch out for as the Seahawks, the NFC champions, gun for the Super Bowl. A wide receiver, Baldwin carried the Filipino flag last November to rally support for victims of super typhoon Yolanda.
Sophomore quarterback Russell Wilson will be taking charge of the attack for the Seahawks, who will be making their second appearance in the premier game after falling short in the 2005 season.
The Broncos beat the New England Patriots in the AFC title game. They will be led by quarterback Peyton Manning, who aims to earn his second Super Bowl ring. The Broncos last won the prestigious Vince Lombardi trophy in the 1998 season.
Super Bowl will also have the biggest names performing, with Bruno Mars headlining the halftime show. The Filipino-American singer will be collaborating with the rock band Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
