SARINA Bolden scored two goals, the first of which off an assist by the debuting Janae DeFazio, and the Philippines defeated Jordan, 3-0, on Saturday in an international friendly during the Pink Ladies Week competition in Antalya, Turkey.
The Filipinas got off to a strong start with DeFazio connecting on a cross to Bolden to score on a header in the second minute. DeFazio made his Filipinas debut after playing for UCLA in college and, recently, with the Kansas City Current in the National Women’s Super League/Liga MXF Summer Cup.
Olivia McDaniel kept a clean sheet for the Filipinas when she saved a penalty kick by Jordan striker Ayah Al-Majali in the 59th minute.
Bolden padded the Filipinas lead in the 69th minute after being awarded with a penalty for being fouled inside the box.
Katrina Guillou made it a three-goal victory for the Filipinas with another penalty kick in the 77th minute in the team’s first friendly match in six months.
The Philippines will go up against Kenya in the second friendly match of the current FIFA international window on Wednesday, still in Antalya, Turkey.
Aston Villa defender Maz Pacheco has yet to play for the Filipinas as she is still in the process of obtaining her Philippine passport. Pacheco, however, is in Turkey for the Filipinas training camp in preparation for her future caps with the team.
