BIRMINGHAM City FC drew with Swansea City, 0-0, on the road in Neil Etheridge’s first match in a Blues uniform in the English Football League Championship.

Etheridge’s fine play allowed the Blues to salvage a point after they picked up a 1-0 victory over Brentford in their first match.

“It was great for me to keep a clean sheet and make those sort of saves. Ultimately, it was about the team, the boys at the back did a fantastic job,” said Etheridge as quoted by the team’s Facebook page.

Zach Jeacock and Andres Prieto were the goalkeeper of the Blues in their previous two matches.

“Neil made some great saves and he is a great goalkeeper, this week it was Neil and last week it was Zach,” said BCFC manager Aitor Karanka as quoted by the club’s website. “For me to have keepers like them and Andres it is really important.”

“It is good for me as a coach, but also good for the defenders and the team. I used to be a defender and when you know you have a proper keeper who is calm behind you it helps you a lot. This week it was Neil and last week it was Zach, it is really good for the team,” Karanka added.

The Blues return home next week with a match against Roterham United.
