BIRMINGHAM City FC salvaged a point with a 1-1 draw with Rotherham United in the English Football League Championship.
Rotherham midfielder Kieran Sadlier scored on a penalty in the 87th minute but the Blues forced a draw, their second straight this season, with a penalty kick by Jeremie Bela in the 90th minute.
The Blues now have five points and remain unbeaten, in eighth place.
Starting for the second straight time this season, Filipino-British goalkeepr Neil Etheridge made his presence felt early in the Blues’ home match at the St. Andrew Trillion Trophy Stadium, deflecting a shot by Angus MacDonald from 20 yards out.
Bela brought down Rotherham United’s Ben Wiles for the penalty, and Sadlier fired the spot kick. But Bela atoned for the foul with a goal three minutes later.
“I have mixed feelings, having conceded the goal to come back and even have another chance to win the game, (you have) to be pleased and happy. I think we should have won the game; we were much better than them in the second-half, we had much more chances than them,” said Birmingham City FC manager Aitor Karanka.
Etheridge’s squad will face Stoke City next week.
