England legend Terry Butcher is set to take over the Azkals job.

FORMER England captain Terry Butcher is set to be named the next head coach of the Philippines men’s football squad, according to a report from UK media outfit the Scottish Sun.

Azkals management is set to make an announcement on Thursday evening on the squad’s future plans including the replacement for Thomas Dooley whose contract wasn't renewed after it expired last March.

Butcher was capped 77 times in a healthy decade with the Three Lions where he was featured in three World Cup selections. As a player, he spent his best years at Scottish side Rangers where he had 127 caps and had eight goals.

He was a player-manager in the twilight of his playing career, having handled Coventry City, Sunderland and Clydebank from 1990-93.

He last had a managerial job when he handled League Two side Newport Country AFC back in 2015.
