Philippines retains right to host Suzuki Cup with Philippine Sports Stadium as new venue
The Philippine Sports Stadium will be the venue for the Susuki Cup matches.

THE Philippines has ironed out its venue problems, allowing the country to retain its right to host the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup for the first time.

The Philippine Football Federation has secured the Philippine Sports Stadium (PSS) in Bulacan as the venue for one of the group stages of the top regional competition in November.

The PFF relayed the news to the AFF Council in its meeting on Saturday in Vietnam.

The AFF earlier disapproved the Rizal Memorial Stadium as venue as its 15,000-seating capacity fell below the minimum requirement.

The PFF also listed the PSS as an option, but negotiations with the venue management initially hit a snag.

“The PFF is thankful for the robust support of the Philippine Sports Commission and the meaningful cooperation of the Philippine Sports Stadium to help promote football especially to our nation’s youth,” PFF general secretary Ed Gastanes said.
