THE Philippine men’s football team will have one less friendly in its preparation for the Suzuki Cup as its exhibition against Turkmenistan supposedly slated next Friday at the Philippine Sports Stadium has been cancelled.
The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) received an urgent notice from its counterpart from Turkmenistan that majority in the squad have sustained injuries during the recent Turkmenistan Championship and Cup matches.
“Whilst the cause is beyond its control, the PFF wishes to apologize to all sports fans and football supporters for the cancelation of the friendly,” PPF general secretary Edwin Gastanes said in a letter sent to media outlets on Friday.
The PFF assured the fans who have already bought tickets a refund.
The Azkals now set their sights on their friendly against Kyrgzstan on September 6 in Bishkek.
