THE Philippine men’s football team will step up its buildup for the Suzuki Cup as another friendly has been set in October.

Already set to face Turkmenistan next week and Kyrgyzstan in the second week of August, the Azkals are set to face Bahrain on October 7 at the Philippine Sports Stadium, according to a post in the Philippine Football Federation website.

The Filipino booters, currently ranked 134th in the world, face a familiar Middle Eastern foe in the Bahrainis, whom they stunned, 2-1, in their first meeting in the Fifa World Cup Qualifiers, before surrendering a 2-0 loss in the second leg.

The match falls on a Fifa international friendly window, giving the Azkals a chance to have a full complement of players.
