THE Philippines will see more of Thomas Dooley.
The German-American mentor confirmed the Philippine Football Federation's offer to him of a two-year contract extension, which he is inclined to sign and will see him handle the Azkals in next year's anticipated World Cup Qualifiers.
Dooley already met with Azkals manager Dan Palami and PFF president Nonong Araneta earlier this week, although details of the new contract still need to be written down.
“We had a verbal agreement to continue working together,” the 53-year-old mentor said on Saturday.
Palami and Araneta earlier hinted their inclination to reward Dooley with a fresh deal after the coach led the Azkals to numerous breakthroughs in his first year at the helm.
“I would like to continue working with PFF and they like to continue working with me,” said Dooley, who will celebrate the New Year in Batangas with his kids. “That is the perfect situation.”
Dooley, whose current contract expires in February, led the Azkals to a bridesmaid finish in the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup and a semifinal output in the Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup.
