MADRID — Angel Correa scored in the first half and Antoine Griezmann added two goals in the second as Atletico Madrid defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-0 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey with a 4-1 aggregate victory on Thursday (Friday, Manila time).
Correa scored with a curling right-footed strike from just inside the area in the 40th minute, and Griezmann netted from close range in the 80th and in a counterattack in injury time.
Atletico has won 13 of its last 15 games, while conceding only five goals.
Also Thursday, Gary Neville's Valencia secured its spot in the quarters with an easy 3-0 win at Granada, advancing 7-0 on aggregate.
