THE Philippines once again faced a world-ranked team and fell to Vietnam, 6-1, on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena, bowing out of contention for the final of the 2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship.

The Pinay5 couldn’t keep up after a narrow 1-0 deficit at halftime as Vietnam, rated No. 11 in the world, pounced away with five goals in the second half. Shai Del Campo scored the Philippines’ only goal with 16 minutes left in the match.

The Philippine women’s futsal team dropped their second straight defeat after losing to world No. 6 Thailand, 7-0, on Sunday.

Following the lopsided defeat, the Philippines slipped to last place of the five-nation tournament that is in its inaugural edition, down by one on goal difference by Myanmar, which is now waiting if it will play in the battle for the bronze medal after finishing with one point on a 0-1-3 win-draw-loss record.
