ARELLANO clobbered Letran, 40-0, on Friday at the Ascom field in an utter juniors’ division mismatch that set the NCAA football record for the most lopsided result this season.
The Junior Chiefs stamped their class to set the biggest winning margin this year in both men’s and juniors’ division, breaking their own feat last January 22 when they hammered Lyceum, 24-0.
There are no records available on the most lopsided football match in league history.
With the huge win, Arellano is now tied in second place with defending champion La Salle Greenhills with 10 points on three wins and one draw. San Beda is on top, remaining unbeaten in four games for 12 points in the seven-team tournament.
The cellar-dwelling Knights, still winless in five games, have now given up a whopping 100 points through five games, allowing 20 points from San Beda, 19 from CSB, 11 from Emilio Aguinaldo College, and 10 points from Perpetual Help.
Lopsided wins have become common this season in the juniors division, with 10 games decided by 10 points or more.
It’s not the case in the men’s division, where the biggest winning margin was seven points, achieved also by Arellano and San Beda, both at the expense of Mapua.
