Green Archers United dumped Forza, 4-0, on a rainy Wednesday night to complete the quarterfinal cast in Group B of the United Football League Cup at the University of Makati pitch.
Only needing a draw to clinch a quarterfinal berth, the Archers nevertheless unleashed their full might as they leaned on a balanced scoring attack to emerge as the top team in the group.
Skipper Tating Pasilan scored anew, while Ronnie Aguisanda, Elle Cagayanan, and Reynald Villareal all registered their first goals this season as the Archers finished the elimination round tied with Kaya with 10 points.
The Archers, though, have a two-point goal difference lead over Kaya after four matches.
Forza, which needed to win by eight points to make the quarterfinals, failed to even come close to its objective, ending its campaign with a 1-1-2 win-draw-loss card for a total of four points.
After Aguisanda drew first blood 14 minutes into the game, Cagayanan added another goal two minutes before halftime.
Pasilan, the 26-year-old striker from San Carlos City, then tripled the lead with a diving header in the 63rd minute, before Villareal, a defender, found the back of the net four minutes later.
UFL action resumes on Thursday also at the UMAK field with the Loyola Meralco Sparks and Pachanga facing separate opponents hoping to clinch quarterfinal berths in Group C.
The first-running Sparks take on cellar-dwelling Mendiola at 7 p.m. while second-running Pachanga squares off with Laos two hours later.
