JOHOR Darul Ta'zim gave the visiting Global FC a rude welcome as the hosts came away with a 4-0 win in the 2017 AFC Cup Group stages on Tuesday evening in Johor, Malaysia.

The hosts were just simply too fast and too good for the Cebu-based club as they moved atop of Group F with seven points.

A splendid opening goal from Mahali Jasuli and a penalty given to defender Amani Aguinaldo in a span of four minutes quickly put the hosts in the driver's seat just before the interval.

Jasuli collected the ball from the top of the box and sent a quick low screamer past keeper Patrick Deyto for the opening goal in the 31st minute.

It didn't take long for the Malaysians to get their second goal as Aguinaldo was called for what looked like a soft penalty as Hazwan Bakri fell quickly inside the penalty box. JDT skipper Safiq Rahim easily doubled that lead as he calmly sank the penalty in the 34th minute.

Substitute OJ Clarino inserted some much needed energy on Global's attacking front but none resulted to goals for the visitors.

Instead, it was the Malaysians who scored late as substitute Brian Ferreira beat Wesley Santos in the 87th minute to make it 3-0 while Brazilian Marcos Antonio got rewarded for his sturdy work in the back with a goal in injury time.

Global remained at second place in the group with six points and it will have its shot at redemption at home in the return fixture on April 5 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
