NOBODY bends it like Beckham.
A starstruck Iza Calzado went on social media on Thursday to share her chance encounter with English football star David Beckham in the Los Angeles area.
In a post on her Facebook and Instagram accounts, the actress said she was at a branch of Erewhon, a specialty food store, when she saw “a good looking guy” by the food section who she thought looked like the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star.
“I smiled at him and he smiled back. Saw him again, exchanged smiles but I wasn't sure but the tattoos should have been a dead giveaway. I then proceed to line up to pay. He then puts his basket after me,” she wrote.
At the checkout line, the Filipina actress said she finally summoned the guts to ask, "’Sorry but I have to ask, are you David Beckham?’ and he said, ‘Yes, I am.’”
Calzado responded: "Oh gosh, I just had to make sure" before adding she was from the Philippines and introduced herself while shaking hands.
During “the lovely chat,” Beckham told Calzado he was in the Philippines nine months ago for UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund) on behalf of Typhoon Haiyan victims for which the actress thanked him.
"Then I was called up to the cashier and he said, ‘It was lovely to meet you.’ He was the nicest and even said bye to me as I was leaving and said, "It was very nice to meet you." OMG I'm dying!!!!!! “, she gushed in her post.
“Thank you, David Beckham, for being a lovely human being! I know you are known for your good looks and football skills but for me, your greatest strength is your kindness. I am now a FAN!” said Calzado, adding she decided not to ask for a selfie.
“I made him feel more like a human being rather than a piece of public property. Pero Juskoooo, grabe pagpigil ko at Sabay tili pagsakay sa uber!”
The Instagram post has since garnered more than 5,600 “likes” and elicited 200 comments from the actress’ followers.
