A FORMER member of the national fencing team is targeting the 2015 Bb. Pilipinas crown.

Fil-American fencer Mia Allyson Hernandez Howell is one of the 34 candidates that recently made the cut for the pageant, which will hold its coronation night on March 15 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Howell graduated from NCAA Division I school University of Pennsylvania where she competed for the school’s fencing team in the Ivy League Conference.

During her high school years, Howell was part of the national fencing team won a silver medal in the women’s foil of the 2007 Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand along with Michelle Mancenido, Veena Tessa Nuestro, and Ma. Dinah Remolacio.

Howell is born to a Filipina mother named Rosa Maria Hernandez.
