EXTREME sports and rock and roll make for a perfect mix as Red Horse Beer hosts the Urban Extreme Sports Challenge at the Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban grand finals set on Saturday at Edsa corner Roxas Boulevard.
Around 150 extreme BMX and mountain bikers compete for cash prizes and medals in three categories starting at 7 pm. BMX riders battle it out in the BMX mega ramp jump and the half pipe events, while mountain bikers will be entered in the MTB mega ramp jump category.
Participants will be judged based on style, consistency, number of tricks, and difficulty of tricks.
Competing in the BMX events are top ranking riders including Dan Lopez, Paul Diaz, Mark Oliver, Hanry Chan, Dyrell Ellias, Zeus Adriano, James Lang, Noli Baga, Daboi Pineda, and Rommel Fantillanan.
Meanwhile, top contenders in the mountain bike event are Eboy Farr, Arjae Raymundo, Kristian Trinidad, Hemimio Castillo, Edgar Serabia, Cymond Kenneth Yumol, Hilton Tiam Lee, Macky Echiverri, Rolly Pinlac, and Max Galsim.
Armand Mariano, acknowledged as one of Asia’s top BMX riders, will be featured in the pro demo side event.
Aside from the extreme sports, the 2012 Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban finals will also feature tattoo and graffiti wall competitions.
On the main stage, amateur rock bands A Music Theory, Katulad, Memoronnie, Disengage and Fidortchi, who topped the national eliminations, will compete for the P500,000 champion’s cash prize plus a recording contract.
