MARGIELYN Didal begins her quest for a berth in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she competes in the Street League Skateboarding Pro Championships in Rio De Janeiro.
In a Facebook post, Skateboard Association of the Philippines president Monty Mendigoria said Didal will be joined in the trip by Oregon-based Filipina skater Christiana Means, head coach Dani Bautista, and team manager Anthony Claravall.
Didal, who won one of the four gold medals of the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games, in looking to gain enough world ranking points to be able to complete in skateboarding's Olympic debut in Tokyo.
The top 16 athletes in the world rankings by June 2020 will qualifying for the quadrennial showpiece as well as three athletes from the world championship and another from host country Japan.
Mendigoria said the team will be training in the US during the holidays to prepare for the competition set January 8 to 13.
