    PH crowned overall champion in World Electronic Sports Games SEA

    THE Philippines was named the overall champion of the World Electronic Sports Games SEA Finals after winning three out of seven game titles on Sunday at the Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    Filipino teams TNC Predator and ArkAngel brought home gold in Dota 2 and CS:GO Female respectively, while Caviar “EnDerr” Acampado took home gold from a Starcraft II win.

    TNC, meanwhile, took home silver for CS:GO while Euneil “Staz” Javinas was second place in Hearthstone.

    Rounding out the medalist was Cara “Caracute” Vergel De Dios with a respectable second runner up for Hearthstone Female.

    Aside from medals teams and players also took home cash prizes and qualified for WESG 2018 Global which will be held in Chongqing, China in March 2019.

    Both TNC Predator and ArkAngel will take home USD 7,500 while Acampado would return home with USD 3,750.

    As for the second placers TNC would take home USD 4,500 while Javinas won USD 2,250.

    De Dios meanwhile would be walking home with USD 750.

    WESG was launched back in 2016 by China’s Alibaba Sports with the idea of bringing an Olympic style tournament to eSports. Unlike regular eSports tournaments where teams are multi-national, WESG only accepts teams composed of players from the same country.
