AURORA GAMING delivered back-to-back statement wins in Week 2 of the MPL Philippines Season 16, outclassing world champions ONIC Philippines and MSC 2025 titleholders Team Liquid Philippines.
After last season’s disappointments and a shaky start, Aurora is rediscovering their identity and rewriting their story one win at a time. But what measures are they taking to unlock their full potential this season?
“Ang priority namin is maayos muna kung ano yung kailangan naming mabuo. Ayusin muna namin yung sistema namin, yung structure namin, then focus lang talaga muna kami sa kung ano yung ginagawa namin,” Head Coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani said in the post-match interview.
Despite their hard-earned triumphs, Master the Basics admitted the squad remains a work in progress, particularly when it comes to closing out games.
Is Aurora struggling to close out games?
“Gaya ng lagi kong sinasabi, nasa process pa kami na matutunan namin yung buong sistema talaga na ginagawa namin. Meron pa kaming inaayos na ibang part. Siguro, by the coming weeks, maayos din namin talaga yung pag-close ng game,” he explained.
Although Aurora bested the powerhouse ONIC PH and Team Liquid PH, Edward “Edward” Dapadap and Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo left no room for complacency and kept their focus on making progress.
“May mga comeback scenarios na kailangan naming ayusin. Hindi kami magpapakampante kasi parang may mali or kulang pa sa ginagawa namin. I-improve pa namin yun,” Edward expressed.
“May mga butas pa kami na kailangang ayusin para mas maganda yung mga gawin namin,” Yue added.
Aurora’s next test comes against Twisted Minds, a squad rising as the dark horse of the season. Can they continue to redefine themselves, or will familiar flaws hold them back?
