TEASED last week with a mysterious, conspiracy-laden clip, Activision finally pulled the curtains off their new game in the Call of Duty series with a single-player trailer.

Watch it here with footage captured on the PS5:

The new game takes the series back to the ‘80s, complete with Ronald Reagan and New Order’s “Blue Monday” playing in the background. For the single-player campaign, there looks to be some Vietnam War flashbacks as well. It’s a refreshing change of pace for the Black Ops series — the last two Black Ops series were set in the future.

The back-to-basics approach is in line with what Call of Duty is doing lately. After all, last year, the series rebooted Modern Warfare. While the first Black Ops game was released 10 years ago, Black Ops: Cold War isn’t an anniversary reboot. It will tell a brand-new story, with characters like Alex Mason (the main character of Black Ops 1 and 2) set to return.

Reports say that the single-player mode will have multiple endings, a customizable main character, and different ways to complete missions.

Of course, a Black Ops game wouldn’t be a Black Ops game without Zombie mode. It’s going to come back, but Activision is keeping quiet on multiplayer details. It will talk more about multiplayer with another reveal on September 9. What they have said, though, is that it will integrate in some way with the free-to-play Warzone, and that whatever system you have — current gen or next gen — you’ll be able to play with other players on different platforms.

As with NBA 2K21, the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will sell for $70. The PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions will sell for $60. But PS4 players who plan to buy the PS5 can pay an extra $10 to get the next-gen version.

The game will release on November 13.
