The country will have two representatives in the upcoming MDL Chengdu Major, after TNC Predator and Team Adroit secured a couple of the allocated slots in the recently concluded Southeast Asian qualifiers.
TNC, which finished 9-12th at The International 2019, and the all-Cebuano Adroit, the official Philippine Dota 2 team for the 30th SEA Games, will join Malaysia/United Kingdom organization Fnatic as the region's contingent in the first Major Championship of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2019-20 season, which will be held from November 16 to 24 in China.
In fact, the PH will be heavily represented in MDL's third Major, with Fnatic having its own Filipino player in Djardel "DJ" Mampusti.
TNC and Adroit actually faced off in the semifinal round of the Qualifier, where the latter drew first blood behind MC Nicholson "Mac" Villanueva's Ember Spirit (13 kills, two deaths, seven assists). The former then pulled off the reverse sweep, as the Cebuanos failed to counter-pick Kim "Gabbi" Villafuerte's Gyrocopter (8-0-10, 13-3-7).
Adroit went on to meet another Pinoy team, Cignal Ultra, in the third-place match. Cignal, whose members Van Jerico "Van" Manalaysay and James Erice "Erice" Guerra are also part of the SEA Games PH rep, managed to put up a good fight but still fell short against a vengeful Adroit squad.
TNC, which quickly dispatched former teammates Carlo "Kuku" Palad and Marco Luis Polo "Raven" Fausto" of Geek Fam in the group stage, and Adroit will have a chance to get their fair share of DPC points for TI10 and the $980,000 (P50,695,890) prize pool at the MDL Chengdu Major.
