AT last, the PlayStation 5 price and release date have finally been revealed.
The base PS5 will cost $499.99, or around P24,200. That’s virtually identical to the price of the Xbox Series X, which will retail for $499. (Take note that the PS4, which had a launch price of $399, sold for P24,999 when it was first launched in the Philippines.)
The release dates of these two big competitors are neck-and-neck, too. The Xbox Series X will release on November 10, while the PS5 will drop on November 12 in the US, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and South Korea. (The rest of the world gets it on November 19.)
The digital-only, no-disc-drive version of the PS4 will be $399.99. Its Microsoft equivalent, the Xbox Series S, is much cheaper at $299. But take note that the two consoles aren’t alike. The digital version of the PS5 is exactly the same as the base PS5, only with no disc drive. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series S will have lower specs than its big bro, the Xbox Series X.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a showcase without a few games.
Here’s the reveal trailer for Final Fantasy XVI, which will be a PlayStation exclusive:
Then a long-rumored game based on the Harry Potter series was finally unveiled. It’s called Hogwarts Legacy.
Some gameplay from Spider-Man: Miles Morales was also shown.
And here’s some gameplay from Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.
