SENTINELS HAVE FINALLY SILENCED their critics as they clawed their way against the best VALORANT teams in the world and secured the VCT 2024: Masters Madrid championship over South Korean powerhouse, Gen.G Esports, in a thrilling 3-2 finale.
This team was led by the popular streamer and content creator Tyson Van "TenZ' Ngo and Filipino-American, Zachary Jude "zekken" Patrone.
The stats would reveal that both have topped the kills count with zekken securing 72 in all games, while TenZ had 67. Thier +/- likewise speaks volume with TenZ leading the team with a +4, while his partner in crime had a +3.
TenZ' victory also makes him the first two-time VCT masters champ.
But they couldn't have done this without the support of the other members namely Gustavo Henrique "Sacy" Rossi Da Silva, Jordan "Zellsis" Montemurro, substitute player Rahul "curry" Nemani, captain Mohamed "johnqt" Amine Ouarid, and head coach Adam "kaplan" Kaplan.
Sentinel Prime
The series was a back-and-forth encounter as both teams exchanged wins, with Gen.G initially gaining the upper hand with their victories in Games 1 (Breeze) and 3 (Ascent). Gen.G was dominant in both games, securing a 13-8 scoreline.
Gen.G tried to keep their momentum in the other games, going to distance in Game 2, which reached a nailbiting overtime session in Bind.
During OT, Sentinels secured two straight wins, securing their first win of the series.
Game 4 saw Sentinels overcome a potential Gen.G comeback, with a 13-10 win.
Then came the final game of the series which happened in Icebox, a favorable map for Sentinels as they secured a comfortable 13-6 victory.
With their victory, Sentinels has secured $250,000 (Php14,000,000). After the finale, YouTuber Alicia "Kyedae" Shymko approached TenZ for a wholesome moment.
This wasn't the first time that Sentinels won a major event as they last won VALORANT Champions Tour: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavik back in 2021. TenZ was also a part of that squad.
