AFTER a week eight loss, Team Liquid Philippines took the game which mattered more.
The defending MPL champions and the MSC 2025 king exacted revenge on Team Falcons and sent them packing with a 3-1 win to keep the “Golden Road” dream alive on Day 1 of the MPL Philippines Season 16 playoffs.
Team Liquid PH completely dominated Team Falcons in the series opener, taking a lopsided 16-1 kill score.
The Cavalry denied any Falcons’ hopes for a comeback, after controlling the map and taking the major jungle objectives to finish Game 1 in just 11 minutes and 21 seconds.
Kiel “Oheb” Soriano on Ruby led the Cavalry’s charge with a flawless 3-0-9 KDA.
Team Falcons fought valiantly in an effort to turn the series around, but it was Team Liquid PH who got the last laugh in Game 2.
Oheb on Harith took the spotlight with a game-winning triple kill in the last base turret push, propelling Team Liquid PH to a 2-0 match point with a stellar 9-0-3 KDA performance.
The rematch of the world-class teams could not get more dramatic with a nip-and-tuck affair in Game 3, with Team Falcons and Team Liquid PH exchanging heavy blows whenever a teamfight explodes.
Team Liquid PH initially had a small lead, but it slipped away when Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo perfectly timed his Raging Sandstorm-Flicker combo on his Khaleed during the 10-minute skirmish near the lord pit.
Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano, playing as Bane, delivered an impressive 9-2-4 KDA to bring the series to 2-1.
But that was the last fight, and flight from these Falcons.
Cavalry keeps going
In Game 4, Team Liquid PH regained its composure to finally seal the deal against Team Falcons.
Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno earned the MVP honors with his signature Lancelot with a 3-2-6 KDA.
The Cavalry now advances to the upper bracket and standing in their “Golden Road” dreams is M6 World Champion ONIC Philippines on Thursday, 3 PM at the Cuneta Astrodome.
