THE PS5 release is drawing near. Is your living room ready?
We all know that the PS5 is going to be big. Its size, it seems, matches its oversized price — $499.99, or about P24,200 (though we don't know yet what the official PS5 Philippine price will be). Its measurements have already been fully revealed. According to Sony, the brand-new console will measure approximately 390mm (15.4 inches) tall, 260mm (10.24 inches) deep and 104mm (4.09 inches) wide.
But while it’s one thing to see the numbers, it’s another thing to see how it would really look in real life.
Japanese apparel designer and artist keiwasada tried to model how the PlayStation 5 would look like in an actual living room. In a series of drawings, she placed the console beside a 30-inch TV, a Nintendo Switch, and a PS4.
Later, she placed the PS5 in a “dream living room” with the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, as well as the PS4 and the Switch.
As you can see from her very Animal Crossing-like mockups, the PS5 dwarfs every console it’s lined up with. Standing up beside a 30-inch TV, it will be almost as tall as your TV if you set the console up vertically.
Even if you own a 50-inch TV, the PS5 will still be a pretty sizeable companion, as this sketch from keisawada shows.
The size seems to be justified. Inside all that bulk is a powerhouse of a gaming console that promises very fast loading times and eye-popping graphics. It will definitely be one of the must-have items when it launches this November 19 (or November 12 if you live in the US, South Korea, or Japan).

How much will the PS5 be?
The PS5 will retail for $499.99 (around P24,200) in the US, Y49,980 (around P23,100) in Japan, €499.99 (around P28,500) in the European Union, and £449.99 (around P28,950) in the United Kingdom. That’s quite a wide variety of prices.

The PS5 digital edition will be slightly cheaper. However, you won’t get a Blu-Ray drive, so you’ll have to download all your games. Its price will be $399.99 / Y39,980 / €399.99 / £349.99.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: The latest in the long-running series, now set in the Viking Age.
Astro's Playroom: This 3D platformer will be preloaded into every PS5.
Demon's Souls: A remake of the 2009 game, this action game is notorious for being very, very difficult.
Destruction AllStars: A colorful vehicle combat game. Expects lots of high-speed crashes and stunts.
Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition (Digital): This rerelease of the 2019 game gets more game modes and a graphical upgrade.
Fortnite: Of course the world’s most popular game would be available right off the bat on the PS5.
Godfall: The first game confirmed for PS5 release, this action-packed hack-and-slasher is also the first game from a brand new studio.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales: The sequel to one of the PS4’s best games, you'll take control of a brand new hero bearing the Spider-Man name.
Observer: System Redux: Just revealed as a launch game yesterday, this will be a release of a 2017 sci-fi thriller.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure: Fluffy PlayStation mascot Sackboy returns for a new adventure.
In addition, the same month the PS5 will be released, games like Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, Control: Ultimate Edition, NBA 2K21, Oddworld: Soulstorm, Overcooked: All You Can Eat, Watch Dogs Legion, and more will also come out.
Games will officially be $69.99, or ten dollars more expensive than the current retail price of most current gen games.
Sony Interactive Entertainement's President and CEO Jim Ryan has also confirmed that “99 percent” (his words, not ours) of PS4 games will be playable on the PS5. That’s good news for everyone who’s built up a sizable library of PS4 games.
