AFTER A strong group stage opener and a 3-1 upper bracket victory over SKADE, Smart Omega's Call of Duty Mobile World Championship comes to an end.

With losses against Brazil's iNCO Gaming in the upper bracket semifinals and North America's Tribe Gaming in the lower bracket, the Filipino hopefuls ended up finishing at the 5th-6th place, bringing home $80,000, or around P4.4 million.

Despite a strong start, Omega failed to garner a single win in these series.

Coach Jericho Ambulo shared his thoughts on the team's first world stage berth.

"It felt great getting into the top six and getting closer to the championship. It wasn’t the result we wanted but we tried our best. Biggest difference, I believe, is our teamwork has improved significantly coming in here," said the Call of Duty veteran.

"Our Worlds experience is definitely one to remember, [especially since] all the hassle of getting our visas and requirements was a rollercoaster. But getting to compete and represent the Philippines was one of the most proud things we did and we played our hearts out."

Looking back at Omega's 2022 campaign, the team could hold their heads high with what they've accomplished. After spending most of the past two years under the shadow of their rivals Blacklist Ultimate, the team finally reached a breakthrough by besting their rivals in the Garena Masters tournaments, bringing them to their Garena Finals campaign.

While Omega are already eliminated, Filipino CODM fans can still hope to see their flag raised in the world stage as there are other Filipino reps playing. North America's Luminosity Gaming, a team consisting of Kent "Banned" Nerves, Christian "Washy" Manalo, and coach Carl "Image" Butalid, is currently in the upper bracket final, hoping to avenge Omega's defeat at the hands of iNCO Gaming.
