ONIC Philippines is making waves ahead of MPL Philippines Season 17 with the announcement of Clayton “Savero” Kuswanto as its new gold laner, marking the league’s first-ever Indonesian import.

Savero replaces Duane “Kelra” Pillas, who moved to ONIC Indonesia, bringing with him a formidable track record: back-to-back MPL Indonesia titles in Seasons 15 and 16 and a 4th place finish at MSC 2025.

The question now: can Savero ignite the Super Family’s push for the championship in Season 17?

Pressure isn’t an issue for the seasoned gold laner.

“It will be interesting for me to replace Kelra. I’m excited because I just want to prove myself here. I want to beat everyone,” Savero said during a media interview.

Almost three weeks into his stay in the Philippines, Savero is settling in—sampling local dishes like sisig, discovering OPM with “Kanibalismo” by fiiterkarma as a favorite, and learning a few Filipino words.

The rest of ONIC PH’s lineup remains heavily dependent on seasoned talents. Jann Kirk “Kirk” Gutierrez and Nowee “Ryota” Macasa anchor the EXP lanes, while Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez controls the jungle. Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez handles mid and retains the captain role, and Borris “Brusko” Parro manning the frontline as roamer.

Head coach Jeniel “YellyHaze” Bata-Anon, supported by player-analyst Mark “Bluffzy” Reyes, aims to weave these talents into a cohesive, title-contending squad once more.

Meanwhile, TNC Pro Team enters Season 17 with renewed determination. After finishing 3rd in Season 16 and narrowly missing a spot at the M7 World Championship, TNC welcomes Dale “Stowm” Vidor back to the Philippines after nearly three years in Malaysia, where he last played for Untitled Esports and placed 7th in MPL Malaysia Season 16.

Stowm joins a roster led by 3Mar, Zaida, LanceCy, Bennyqt, and Ch4knu, promising a mix of homegrown skill and renewed ambition as TNC aims to go one step further this season.
