FOR THE PAST couple of years, RRQ HAS been heavily involved with the PH esports scene.

Entering the VALORANT scene, they signed a group of Filipinos to carry the torch for the Kingdom. Eventually they integrated other nationalities as well.

And in the Mobile Legends scene, RRQ made bold moves of acquiring Filipinos like Michael Angelo "Arcadia" Bocado, John "Irrad" Abarquez, Borris "Brusko" Parro, Vrendon "Vren" Lin.

Then came their decision to establish an MDL roster, which recently ended the dominance of ECHO Proud.

It seems the RRQ Kingdom will further dig deep into investing with Filipinos especially with their recent success in the MDL, something that CEO Andrian Pauline Husen acknowledged.

"One of the most important thing is that we’re trying to look for a new superstar. It’s not a secret anymore, the Philippines is an epicenter for talented players especially for mobile games. I’m just following the trend and then I got lucky and it’s kinda ironic that we’ve been in the grand finals in MDL Indonesia, but I got this trophy in the Philippines," said the RRQ CEO in the press conference.

Heightened interest on Kaito

And this was even highlighted with the heightened interest by Indonesian teams in Filipino prospects. During the season, it was revealed that some of the Filipino players in the Kaito roster have been poached.

“It’s another discussion with my team. There are some Indonesian teams who ask about my players from the Philippines," revealed the RRQ CEO.

But Husen didn't really dig deep into these matters as he wanted his team to remain focused on the end goal, winning the championship.

"I said like, ‘I don’t like to give them the unnecessary disturbance,’ so I wanted them to focus."

He added: "I said to Irene, ‘After the season ends, then we talk.’ Now the focus is on the next tournament and maybe go on a vacation in a bit in Indonesia."

Showcasing the Filipino pride in the world

With all the talk about the talent displayed by his players, as well as his arrival to the Philippines, the big question remains...is Husen aiming to establish a team in the MPL Philippines?

Here's what he has to say.

"I think that’s one of the reasons why I’m here," he started. "We’ve already talked about the MPL, then I’ve talked with the MPL Philippines so we’ll see.

But it turns out there's more to RRQ than just building the foundations in the MPL.

"RRQ invests in Philippine talents since three to four years ago, even in other games. For me Philippine players, they’re talented and passionate," he stated.

"It’s just unfortunate that the private sector and ecosystem is not as big as other SEA countries. I wanna showcase their talents to the world, not just in SEA."
