TEAM LIQUID'S Trina “Ramicii” Ramos shone bright on the biggest milestone of her career at MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) 2025, but behind a young woman finally living her dreams was a story that tells that chasing dreams does not always come easy.

What fans never saw was Ramicii’s internal battle with self-doubt during MWI 2025, a deeply personal struggle she shared in an exclusive interview with SPIN.ph.

“Ang hirap kasi. One week before MWI, nag-struggle ako sa mental health, like self-doubts. Pero sobrang happy naman ako na umabot kami dito,” Ramicii opened up while fighting back her tears.

Team Liquid bowed out of the MWI 2025 in fourth place after a 3-0 sweep by Myanmar’s Terror Queens in the battle-for-third match.

Falling short of expectations, Ramicii and her teammates became the subject of harsh online criticism pointing out every flaw in their performance.

No confetti, no trophy, no podium finish—but Ramicii walked away with life lessons beyond measure that will fuel her to bounce back stronger.

“Hindi ako magpapakain sa low self-esteem or maging confident lang kasi ang hirap talaga kanina kasi inatake ako ng self-doubts. So ayun, hindi ako nakalaro nang maayos,” she reflected after their final match in MWI.

How did it all begin?

Ramicii first felt the thrill of competing through volleyball—until the pandemic pushed her into taking a big leap and rewrote her story.

“Nung bata pa po kasi ako sumasali na talaga ako sa mga competition. Volleyball player talaga ako dati. Tapos nag-COVID kasi and nag-quit din ako ng volleyball, and then nauso yung mga online games, so nag-try ako ng ML. Actually before pa ng COVID nag-ML na ako. Just for fun lang na paglaro,” she recalled.

Initially, Ramicii played Mobile Legends just as a pastime, but then she decided to level it up and find her way to the amateur tournaments.

“Nung nag-COVID, bumalik ako kasi wala na gagawin and nag-try ako. May mga kasama akong lalaki, but sila-sila lang naglalaro na may tournament. So sabi ko, what if gusto ko din i-up yung game ko? Hindi lang casual player, gusto ko mag-compete,” Ramicii recalled.

Just like many MLBB stars with humble beginnings, she started competing by shooting her shot at tryouts posted on Facebook. From there, Ramicii was out to take the world of esports with her talent.

A dream powered by love

It’s a story heard too often where parents do not support or understand their child’s love for gaming, and Ramicii also had that one point in her life.

“To be honest, nung una medyo hindi sila supportive kasi lagi ako nakababad sa phone tapos parang nag-iba raw yung energy ko,” she said, remembering her parents’ concern regarding her health.

Ramicii also faced a difficult crossroads: continue her studies as a second-year food technology student at De La Salle Araneta University or chase her dream of becoming a professional player.

With her heart as her compass, Ramicii chose the latter—and her parents stood with her.

“Nung una pinagsabay ko, but napansin ko na hindi ko talaga kaya. So I had to. Sila din mismo ayaw ako na mag-stop. Pero kinausap ako dati na kung gusto talaga, support kami 100% na mag-stop muna basta babalik ako whenever I feel na na-achieve ko na yung gusto ko. Na-appreciate ko yung mga sacrifices nila, especially na taga-Bacolod sila tapos ako Manila,” she expressed.

For Ramicii, it was about proving to herself and to every girl who’s ever questioned their worth and capability that anything is possible.

“Wag kayong mag-give up, be consistent lang palagi. Kung feel niyo na hindi niyo maabot yung ganito, tingnan niyo kami, naabot namin ‘to,” she advised.
