SOUTHEAST Asia remains the Philippines' realm in basketball, even in esports.
E-Gilas Pilipinas completed a clean sweep of Indonesia with an emphatic 71-35 victory on Sunday to go perfect in the regional conference of the 2020 Fiba Esports Open.
Rial "Rial" Polog Jr. once again caught fire and buried 25 points built in three treys as the Philippines won all of its five games in the series.
It was a tense first half compared to the days prior, with Indonesians playing at their best and keeping it close as the Filipinos held a 22-16 lead.
Polog, though, waxed hot and scored nine of E-Gilas' 24-point third quarter to pull away and grab a decisive 46-23 lead.
"Nag-adjust yung Indonesia," admitted Custer "Aguila" Galas. "After the half, nakapag-adjust kami sa depensa at sa mga ginagawa nila kaya lumayo na kami."
Galas chimed in 17 points powered by five triples, as Aljun "Shintarou" Cruzin added 15 points and five assists.
It was all Philippines in the second half, enjoying a 39-point edge, 71-32 after a Galas trey in the final minute.
The 36-point victory was the biggest margin of victory for E-Gilas, winning by an average of 30.8 points over Indonesia.
