LPU and La Salle headline PCC playoff race

EIGHT teams remain for the inaugural Philippine Collegiate Championship (PCC) crown.

LPU Pirate Esports of Lyceum of the Philippines University and Viridis Arcus of De La Salle University spearhead the top teams which will joust in the playoffs this weekend at Amoranto Arena in Quezon City.

The two teams emerged from the NCR qualifiers as they joined the top two crews from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in this tourney organized by the Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE) and presented by Converge.

LPU Pirate Esports swept the NCR group stages held from Nov. 20 to 23, including a victory over Viridis Arcus where Karl “Kou” Furaque late game triple kill all but sealed the deal for the Pirate Esports.

Kou’s Valentina took down three members of Viridis Arcus, before Mark Kenneth “Mark” Delos Reyes’ Guinever connected on a Violent Requiem in the final inhibitor tower of the midline, giving Elijah Em Jay “Super Xile” Cabradilla’s Claude the final two kills as the three-time Collegiate Center Championship (CCC) titleholders took it all the way to the base for the victory.

Kou got MVP honors in the game with a kill-death-assist line of 6-1-5 while Xile’s Claude lorded over the gold lane with a whopping 11,571 gold acquired to his counterpart in Natsu’s Beatrix.

Who are the other collegiate/university teams?

Also advancing to the playoffs, are Panthera Esports of Systems Plus College Foundation and University of Perpetual Help - Biñan Laguna Saints (Luzon); ARCHONS of the Technological University of the Philippines – Visayas and SAGE Caritas of University of San Agustin (Visayas); and DREAMHIGH of North Eastern Mindanao State University and University of Southeastern Philippines - Obrero Campus Agila-Team S (Mindanao).

Up for grabs is the lion’s share of the P250,000 prize pool, aside from the bragging rights of being the top Mobile Legends: Bang Bang unit in the country.

Aside from the culmination of the PCC, CCE will also have the Campus PlayFest with the two-day event being filled with activities and prizes to be given away and Team Echo appearing as one of the special guests.
