Team Falcons has returned to the winning column after defeating Smart Omega with a decisive sweep in Week 5 of the MPL Philippines Season 15.
Neutralizing any threats posed by Smart Omega, what spelled the difference for Team Falcons? It was all about discipline, emotional composure, and sharp attentiveness.
“Kumakalma yung player pagsinisita ng dalawang captain. Gumanda yung shotcall namin, tapos kalmado lang kami sa laro. Last time, sobrang ingay ng shotcall namin. Tingin ko parang yun yung nagpanalo sa amin, yung kalmadong shotcall lang,” coach Robert “Trebor” Sanchez said.
Team Falcons has two captains? Yes, you read that right! It turned out that the roamer Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo stepped up and has been working alongside Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel.
“Ang ginagawa namin ni Pheww, nagte-take over kami sa shotcall tapos talagang pinapatahimik namin buong team. Tapos makinig na lang sa isang shotcall. Ganun kasi nangyari sa Aurora, medyo maingay kami. Lesson learned din talaga after nung laro namin sa Aurora,” Owgwen explained, recalling communication issues that led to a disaster during their heated clash against Aurora back in Week 4.
When Pheww is in the zone and steering Team Falcons’ ship, he prefers a calm setting to give way for effective in-game communications between players.
“Kami naman talaga dalawa nagsha-shotcall madalas kahit nung mga nakaraang laban namin. Ang nabago lang siguro ay mas kalmado na yung iba. Kasi yung iba naha-hype kapag may nagca-call, nagbibigay ng information, may nahuli, sobrang ingay na,” Pheww pointed out.
“Nasasapawan na yung boses namin. So, yun yung binabago namin na kahit may nahuli kang lima, kalmado ka pa rin para hindi naguguluhan kung ano yung gagawin,” he added.
