'Wala akong pera!' Oheb shuts down false claims from INSPI

“WALA NGA AKONG PERA!” Team Liquid Philippines’ gold laner Kiel “Oheb” Soriano said with his chest during one of his livestreams, debunking a false claim made by a content creator named Inspi.

Oheb’s laugh-out-loud moment is undoubtedly the meme of the week—or perhaps the entire MPL Philippines Season 15. But aside from the good vibes, Oheb saw the need to set things straight with a proper explanation.

“Na-scam kasi ako kaya wala akong pera,” Oheb shockingly revealed in a post-game interview with the media.

Though the gold laner did not go into details of the scamming incident, Oheb debunked the circulating rumors that he was once a top earner in the MLBB scene.

“Nung umuwi ako one time, nakita ko siya (Oheb’s mother) na nanonood kay INSPI tapos nakalagay top 1 daw ako sa earnings. Sabi ko, hindi naman totoo yan,” Oheb recalled, clarifying to his mother that the content about his earnings was inaccurate.

Nasaan ang pera ni Oheb?

“Marami daw akong pera. Saan niya naman niya nakukuha? Di naman reliable source yung mga pinagkukuhaan niya. Unang-una, hindi kasama yung tax, yung hati ng company, yung hati ng mga coaches, ng mga players, hindi kasama dun. Kaya nagmumukhang sobrang laki talaga,” Oheb emphasized, pointing out several aspects that contribute to his overall earnings.

Meanwhile, Oheb shared key takeaways on financial responsibility to his supporters based on his own experiences.

“Ang mabibigay kong tips sa kanila, invest nila. Kung may pera man sila ngayon, wag silang magpapa-scam, wag silang basta-basta magtitiwala sa mga tao. Kasi ganun yung nangyari sa akin eh. Parang, ang bilis kong magtiwala sa tao,” Oheb said.

Oheb underscored also the importance of media literacy and the ability to discern truth from misinformation in the digital age.

“Sa mga hindi naniniwala sa akin na wala akong pera, wag kayo nagpapaniwala sa mga nakikita niyo, sa mga sinasabi ng mga tao sa social media kasi hindi lahat yun totoo. Hintayin niyo pa rin na manggaling sa mismong tao na pinagchismisan para malaman niyo yung totoo. Hindi yung nagpapaniwala kayo sa mga pino-post ng mga tao sa social media,” Oheb emphasized.
