TEAM LIQUID'S run in Dota 2's The International back in 2024 will forever be immortalized due to the narratives surrounding the team. It seemed everyone doubted their capabilities, only for them to silence their critics by winning the most prestigious trophy in Dota 2 esports.
Coach William "Blitz" Lee even had one of the most iconic phrases during the post-match interviews saying: "It truly takes a village, I'm not good enough by myself. I learned that I guess that you have to do it with other people and you have to succeed with everybody around you, and I'm good enough to admit that I'm sh*t but I got great people around me."
And among the pieces that contributed to the success of the Cavalry stem from an NBA legend and one of the greatest ever to play the game of basketball, Earvin "Magic" Johnson.
Magic is an investor of Team Liquid
The Laker legend is currently an investor of aXiomatic eSports, the parent company of Team Liquid. Magic even posted a photo on his official Facebook page, showcasing Team Liquid's championship ring.
"Last September, Team Liquid Dota made history, becoming the first team to ever go undefeated in the playoffs on their way to winning the Dota 2 World Championship at The International 2024!"
Besides highlighting Team Liquid's success in Dota 2, he even looked back at his past achievements. Magic also has a business stake on some of Los Angeles' sports teams such as the Sparks, the Dodgers, and Major League Soccer's LAFC.
"I just unboxed my custom championship ring from Team Liquid and aXiomatic Gaming —what an amazing addition to my collection! I’m now up to 17 championship rings: 11 with the Lakers, 1 with the Sparks, 1 with LAFC, 2 with the Dodgers, and now 2 with Team Liquid!"
Given Magic Johnson's role, perhaps the day will come where he would congratulate MPL PH's Team Liquid if ever they secure a major trophy.
