ONE OF THE most storied franchises in esports has now entered the Philippine women's MLBB scene.
Natus Vincere, popularly known as NAVI, has struck a deal with Smart Omega to acquire the Empress. Back in 2024, Omega Empress won the MLBB Women's Invitational, the most prestigious tournament in the female scene.
And because of this acquisition players namely Gwyneth "not ayanami" Berdin Diagon, Kaye Maerylle "Keishi" Alpuerto, Rica Fatima "AMORE" Amores, Alexandria "LEXAAA" Dardo, Sheen "SHINOA" Cobrado Perez, and Mery Christine "MERAAAY" Vivero will carry the yellow banner.
They will be coached by Salman "KingSalman" Macarambon and John Paul "Aggressive" Aveño.
The journey to the World Cup begins
NAVI's decision will serve as a preparation for the MLBB Women's Invitational 2025 held from July 15 to 19. The event is a part of the Esports World Cup, boasting a $500,000 prize pool.
As of now the team has yet to qualify for the World Cup as they're still competing in the Athena League, the professional women's MLBB tournament in the Philippines. If NAVI aspires to push through to the world stage, the team needs to proceed to the grand finale of the national league.
However this wasn't the only women's MLBB team that was acquired by NAVI as they also made a deal with Malaysia's Arcane, giving the renowned organization, two possible teams for the world stage. The Malaysian squad has already qualified for the World Cup.
Historically, NAVI has been a cornerstone in esports especially in games like Dota 2 and CounterStrike.
Eventually they started their venture into the Land of Dawn back in 2021. Recently the organization entered the MPL Indonesia scene.
