THE finest e-sports teams in South East Asia are coming to the Philippines to compete for a P1 million grand prize in the Mineski Pro-Gaming League SEA Grand Finals on November 29-30 at the SM City North EDSA Sky Dome and Cyberzone.
Mineski-Events Team (MET), the premier electronic sports event organizer in the Philippines, announced that the event will have the biggest prize pool so far in Philippine Dota 2 history.
Now at P1 million (US$22,200), the prize pool is continually increasing through community contributions such as in-game purchases, Mineski Infinity cybercafé promos, online donations, and revenues from the Secretshop.ph online store.
Participating teams in the sixth season of the MPGL SEA Grand Finals are host Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, an open qualifier (Australia/India/Japan/Korea/etc.) and a combined 'Rest of SEA' team with players from Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Laos and Vietnam.
“The Mineski Pro-Gaming League SEA Grand Finals will let us all show the world that we Filipinos can also produce an international electronic sports event," said Mineski CEO and founder Ronald Robins.
"Historically, the region of Southeast Asia has been lagging behind its American and European counterparts especially in terms of cash prize. But here in Philippines, we make that up with competition, pride, and entertainment and highlight the fact that it is not all about the money."
Sponsors of this year's MPGL SEA Grand Finals – Gigabyte, SteelSeries, and ViewSonic — expect the event to be better, bigger and packed with more surprises for the e-sports community.
There will also be more activities happening besides the tournament that will keep everyone entertained.
