AURORA MLBB extended their unbeaten run to 4-0 after pulling off a thrilling reverse sweep against Smart Omega in Week 3 of MPL Philippines Season 15 at the Green Sun Hotel. The competition heats up with the halfway mark of the season on the horizon, and Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani has identified the dark horses in the league to watch out for.
“Sa pinapakita nila ngayon pwede kasi tingin ko improving pa yung team nila. Hindi pa sila totally nasa peak ng whole team,” coach Master the Basics said, acknowledging Smart Omega’s potential threat as the season progresses.
Coach Master the Basics also identified a different team that has been turning heads and rising as a dark horse as well—the TNC Pro Team.
“Pero tingin ko mas dark horse ngayon ang TNC. Siguro dahil din sa ginagawang play ni Yawi. Marami kasi siyang mga unexpected plays kaya pwede maging goods, pwede yung hindi. Pero yung mga ganun bagay kasi hindi yung mape-predict basta-basta,” he said.
Yawi thrives on aggressive style, but his former teammate and now Aurora team captain, Renejay “Renejay” Barcarse, seems to have a good read on his strategies.
“Hindi siya ngayon unexpected play eh kasi based sa mga reviews ko sa kaniya, gumagamit na siya ng mga hero na Matilda, Selena. Tapos yung Chou niya, hindi na masyado aggressive katulad dati. Kumbaga, gumu-go na lang siya sa mga teamfights na sakto lang. Hindi siya talaga dati na sobrang aggressive talaga nung kasama niya pa yung TLPH. Kumbaga ngayon, parang ano lang goods lang,” Renejay explained.
From friends to enemies in the Land of Dawn, Yawi and Renejay are set to duke it out tomorrow with the showdown of Aurora MLBB and TNC Pro Team.

Meanwhile, Renejay also acknowledged that Smart Omega remains a tough competitor and recognized Czedrick “Super Yoshi" Romero's resemblance to Yawi's moves.
“Yung performance po ni Yoshi kanina sobrang goods talaga, sobrang maganda. Parang, nakikita ko nga sa kaniya yung mga plays din ni Yawi dati. Ganun din si Yawi maglaro dati, sobrang aggressive, tsaka sobrang, go lang nang go,” he pointed out.
It wasn’t just Renejay who saw Yoshi making a difference—Aurora’s mid-laner Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo also praised his performance.
“Gumanda yung laruan ng Omega dahil kay Yoshi. Sa laruan niya nahahatak niya mga kakampi niya na. Mas naging aggressive sila,” Yue said.

“Ako confident ako sa sarili ko na magaling kami mag-adapt sa nangyayari sa series. Kumbaga, kunyari may pinick na ganito yung kalaban, kaya namin i-adjust agad ng game 2 nang hindi kami natatakot, na counter-in yun yung ginagawa nila,” Renejay said, quickly adapting to high-pressure situations to secure a win.
