SOURCES have revealed that esports juggernaut, T1, might consider establishing an MLBB team especially with the recent events happening during the M6 World Championship.
In between the MLBB esports spectacle, the M-Summit was held, where various key leaders in esports would meetup and learn more about the ins-and-outs of the MLBB esports scene.
In a video from MPL Indonesia shoutcaster, Frederick Handy "Mirko" Loho, featuring Malaysian caster Aiman "Laphel" Kamal, the Chief Operating Officer of T1 was present during the M-Summit. Photos from MPL Malaysia even supported the claim.
"They may or may not come to Southeast Asia," said Laphel.
What does T1's entrance mean?
While it is still unsure if the org will fully commit to establish an MLBB squad, their arrival could signal that orgs are preparing for the upcoming 2025 Esports World Cup, especially given the rule changes that took place.
According to the new EWC ruleset, "Joint ventures, meaning the collaboration between two distinct esports organizations to field a game roster, will not contribute to the collection of Club Championship points in 2025."
"In order to have their game rosters contribute to the Club Championship, Clubs will be required to have an aligned Club name throughout all games and the Club Championship."
This would ultimately discourage teams to form partnerships (e.g. Falcons AP.Bren, Liquid-ECHO), in favor of a unified squad (e.g. Team Falcons, Team Liquid). With these changes, speculations have risen among the community. Is it true to say that Team Falcons might fully purchase RSG Philippines or AP.Bren?
Historically, T1 is renowned for producing one of the most dominant teams in League of Legends history. They even tried to branch out to other esports titles, namely Dota 2 and VALORANT.
The org is also home of the esports GOAT, Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok
