JOSHUA "CH4KNU" MANGILOG's transition from the MPL to the MDL may have raised some eyebrows to the community given Ch4knu's 'Hall of Legends' status in the Philippine MLBB esports scene.
'Why is Ch4knu in the MDL?'
In an interview with the press, Omega Neos head coach Patrick "Dhap" Palacio revealed the reasons for Ch4knu's MDL stint.
"Wala kaming direct answer doon for now. Pero noong binigay siya sa amin, ang goal is to bring up, gusto lang nilang makita mag-strive ulit yung bagong batch ng Neos to become MPL players. Hindi lang particular kay Ch4knu, para siya sa lahat," he revealed.
With Ch4knu involved with the MDL squad, the team is hoping that his experiences would translate well to the team.
"As coach, malaki yung influence niya kasi dala niya yung past experiences niya, so yun yung contribution niya sa team, paano niya gina-guide yung mga bagong players. Kumbaga sa mindset, kung paano yung tamang mindset."
Ch4knu isn't the only superstar player who has made the transition from MPL to MDL as there were others before him who made the jump.
Players like Kiel "Oheb" Soriano, Carlito "Ribo" Ribo Jr., and Gerald "Dlarskie" Trinchera come to mind.
Omega Neos finished 2nd in the MDL Philippines Season 2, losing to ECHO Proud in the finale. With Ch4knu's arrival, the team is hoping for their championship berth.
Currently Neos roster consists of Ch4knu, Coach Dhap, Dan Nathaniel “Dan” Yambao, Andrew Lew “ANDORYUUU” Flora, Jayson “UKIR” Alupit, Bert Patrick “Bertooo” Segovia, Mark Ferry “DOKMEN” Nazar, John Paul “AGGRESSIVE” Aveño, and Mohammad “COACH MOODY” Samal.
