MEET Allec Monsseur “SN4P” Alvarado, the brilliant mind behind devising strategies and pulling off unorthodox drafts for Smart Omega. But beyond the game, how did he become a real-life coach?

Coach SN4P has inspired Smart Omega to strive to become a better version of themselves in and outside the game, outgrowing the “bad boy” reputation.

Though many may not see it, Coach SN4P cares deeply for Smart Omega, looking out for the squad, treating them like family, and setting them on the right path in life.

“They're like my child or best friend. I just feel like I'm their father,” coach SN4P expressed.

“I don't want them to end up having a bad future. I want them to be in the right direction,” he added.

A healthy lifestyle

Clever moves require a clear mind, and Coach SN4P makes sure to make time for exercise and running laps at nighttime in the Marikina Sports Complex to clear any fog that might be clouding his judgment.

“A healthy lifestyle helps their mindset. Since every morning I wake up, I have a clear mind. It really helps. So I just try to influence them,” coach SN4P said, revealing the good impact of running on his health.

Even some members of the squad follow in his footsteps despite a hectic schedule.

“The rest [want] to, but they can't seem to time manage properly. So, Ryota and Andoryuuu [are] the only [ones] going with me. And the rest [are] MDL players,” coach SN4P explained, pointing out Ryota and Andoryuuu as his gym buddies.

Even though Coach SN4P dedicates himself to healthy living, he does not consider himself a fitness junkie but rather as someone who just simply finds joy in exercising.

“I just enjoy doing it. Rather than doing something bad. Exercising is better,” he said.

Meanwhile, he also added a fun twist to Smart Omega’s routine, spinning the wheel to pick the squad’s bonding session before a big day.

Dealing with hardships

“Before game day. We have a spin the wheel between all of us in the gaming room before our 1 PM meeting to see what we will do after our scrim before the game day, like Friday night, Thursday night, or Saturday night. Wherever it lands, that's what we're going to do. Including board games, going out, eating out,” he explained.

Walking down the memory lane, Coach SN4P reflects about the life challenges he endured and how those experiences have defined his journey and character.

“We're raised poor. We had a hard life in Malaysia. Then, when we moved to the Philippines, we had to build our own house. It's like plywood and yero,” he recalled.

Coach SN4P faced many challenges with life plans veering off course, but he accepted them and continued to charge forward.

“It was supposed to be Ateneo, but my grades [were] bad, and I stopped running track and field. My grades were bad. I wanted to shift during the second year, but I decided to live the life in TIP. My friends, their culture, I adjusted to it,” he said.

“That helped me, honestly. My past experience helped me become who I am now,” he added, looking at the silver lining of his hard-fought journey.
