IT will be one titanic clash to close out Week 5 of the MPL Philippines Season 17 as the red-hot Team Falcons take on ONIC Philippines on Sunday at the Victoria Sports Tower in Quezon City.
After a forgettable run in S16, Team Falcons have been nothing short of spectacular this season, entering the week as the 2-seed, with a 6-1 record just behind the undefeated Team Liquid PH.
Now, these Falcons look like a true title contender once more, especially with the addition of veteran mid laner Salic “Hadji” Imam, who has been a crucial boost to the squad in the first half of the season.
A win for them would stretch their streak to six, but it would be easier said than done as standing in the way is a familiar rival with a score to settle.
ONIC Philippines, currently at No. 3 with a 4-3 record, enters the match with vengeance in mind after a narrow 2-1 loss to Team Falcons back in Week 1.
That, of course, was Indonesian import Clayton “Savero” Kuswanto’s first game in the Philippines and after the entire first half of the tournament, it seems like he’s found his footing this time in the rematch against the Falcons.
Beyond the scoreboard, this clash tells a deeper story—it is a battle between two dynasties with unfinished business.
For the Falcons, a victory would not only reinforce their dominance but also move them another step closer to securing a ticket to the playoffs.
For ONIC, it is about reclaiming momentum and proving that the Super Family can still rise to the occasion despite facing adversities in recent weeks.
