A REMASTERED version of Spider-Man, the hit PlayStation 4 video game, will launch with the PS5 console this November.
Among the gameplay and graphics improvements — including three new suits for Spider-Man to wear — is one major change that’s gotten a few fans in an uproar: Peter Parker’s face.
“We have recast the face of Peter Parker,” wrote Insomniac Games’ community director James Stevenson on the PlayStation blog.

Some gamers are unhappy with New Face Peter. A few fans have even commented about how he looks like Tom Holland, the actor currently playing Spider-Man in the Marvel movies.
Officially, though, that’s not actually the case. Insomniac Games didn’t model PS5 Peter Parker after Tom Holland, but after actor Ben Jordan.
"To get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture, we have cast Ben Jordan to be the face model for Peter Parker on the PS5 console. He looks incredible in-game, and Yuri’s moving performances take on a new life,” continued Stevenson.
Insomniac’s Creative Director Bryan Intihar acknowledged the fan uproar in a tweet.
“Heck, it even took me [a while] to get used to Peter’s new look,” Intihar said. “But [...] it quickly became apparent that delivering even more believable-looking characters made finding a better facial match for actor Yuri Lowenthal — who we all love as Peter — a necessity.
Voice actor Lowenthal made light of the issue in two tweets, as well.
In another tweet, he put things into perspective, and said, “I just hope y’all are as fired up about voting and fighting white supremacy as you are about Peter Parker’s face.”
