EVOS Esports demotes Filipino superstar Dlar to development league

    Sep 15, 2022

IN ONE of the most shocking twists in MPL Indonesia, EVOS Legends decided to relegate one of the most renowned EXP laners in the Philippines, Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera, to the MPL-ID Development League.

The announcements were made on EVOS Esports’ Facebook page.

In their post, they said that Dlar and Saykots will switch positions. Dlar will be playing for EVOS’ development team, Icon, while Saykots will play with the main roster.

Besides the switch in EXP laners, the organization likewise made some coaching changes. Steven “Ageee” Gunawan is now the analyst and Taxstump the assistant coach.

With these changes, EVOS are hoping to go for a deeper push in the Indonesian MLBB scene and secure their World Championship slot. The team is currently third in the regular season standings.

Coach Yeb shares his thoughts on demotion of Dlar

With EVOS' decision to send Dlar to the development league, the MLBB community was left stunned.

Indonesian shoutcaster, Frederick Handy "Mirko" Loho, expressed how he felt with Dlar's transfer.

Meanwhile Dlar's former coach, Denver "Yeb" Miranda spoke to Spin.ph about the situation.

He stated that he can't really talk about the real reasons for Dlar's downfall.

"Wala kong karapatan magsalita, dahil hindi ko talaga alam nangyayari sa team nila," he said to Spin.ph. "Lahat naman ng team may struggles, pero baka hindi lang nahanapan ng solusyon kung paano magfi-fit si dlar sa MPL team kaya siya binaba."

Yeb was also sad yet hopeful about this latest development from his former player.

"Malungkot ako syempre dahil alam ko paganahin si Dlar. Pero dahil galing syang Onic PH Fam alam kong hindi sya agad susuko sa pinagdadaanan niya ngayon babawi at babalik yan ng mas malupet."

    How Dlar fared in Indonesia

Being one of the best players in the Philippines, Dlar’s arrival was a new beginning for the Indonesian powerhouse team.

While many anticipated a breakthrough in Season 10, fans had to wait until Week 2 for Dlar's big debut.

He quickly proved his individual prowess as he was able to shine with his signature Uranus against Geek Fam.

Despite an impressive showing, however, Dlar’s stock slowly dwindled. After losing in Game 1 against fierce rivals Onic Esports in Week 3, Dlar was replaced by Sebastian “Pendragon” Arthur. As EVOS went on with their campaign, Pendragon became the first option for head coach Bjorn “Zeys” Ong.
