Dota 2’s The International has once again broke its own record for the biggest prize pool in the history of esports, as the grand total hit more than $40 million dollars.
The International 10’s prize pool totaled $40,018,178 (around P1.9 billion). That's also about 5 million dollars more than last year’s $34,330,068 prize pool.
The winner of the next The International will receive the lion’s share of the pot, getting 45 percent of the prize pool or about $18 million.
Valve has already canceled this year’s The International due to the pandemic, but it has yet to announce a new date nor how will the next DPC season proceed. Hopefully, the Seattle-base developer can provide answers in the next few weeks as fans are antsy for the return of Dota 2 play.
The end of this year’s Battle Pass also gave fans the winner for this year’s Arcana vote between Spectre and Faceless Void. Spectre eked out Faceless Void with a total of 27 million votes over the latter’s 24 million.
With the Battle Pass over, Valve is set to work on new updates for the Dota Plus which includes prep work for the new season, updates to guilds, and a new MMR reset mechanism.
