TEAM LIQUID Philippines maintains a flawless record after defeating ONIC Philippines with a commanding 2-0 sweep, handing the reigning world champions their three-game skid in Week 3 of the MPL Philippines Season 15.

With ONIC Philippines appearing to be trapped in the champions' curse, what steps are they taking to overcome these setbacks and break free from the superstition?

For head coach Tony “YnoT” Senedrin, starting anew means letting go of their past accolades to reset and remove any unnecessary pressures from their shoulders.

“I firmly believe na we really have to get over muna yung pagiging champion namin. The faster we accept na hindi na kami champion, I think the faster we can move on and start regrouping and start making sure na on track kami lagi sa matchday,” coach YnoT expressed.

ONIC Philippines has been struggling for the past two weeks, suffering losses to Aurora MLBB, Team Falcons, and now Team Liquid Philippines. But Coach YnoT remains committed to identifying areas for improvement and finding solutions.

“Siguro meron pa kaming avenue na hindi tinitingnan. It's really something that we have to figure out. So I think mahalaga na once we get home later, mapag-usapan namin as a team kung ano pa yung mga kailangan namin tingnan apart from in-game mechanics, apart from everything."

"It's really gonna be a long night, I guess,” he said, determined to help the team fine tune their strategies and get back on their feet before facing AP. Bren.

Defining a champion

ONIC Philippines has been dominating the global scene since last year, achieving an undefeated run in the M6 World Championship, yet they remained humble and acknowledged the fact that they are not gods who do not bleed.

“Alam ko sa sarili ko na malakas kami ganun pero not to the point na yung feeling god na term na walang tatalo sa amin,” jungler Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez said, embracing both confidence and humility.

The true heart of a champion never gives up, even if it means trying and adjusting to ever-shifting meta countless times to succeed once again.

“If kulang pa yung hours na pinour namin over the past three weeks, which admittedly is, we need to pour more hours, right? It's tiring, it's frustrating. Pero again, I think dito pinaka masusubukan yung mental toughness ng team. I mean, it's something that we've been bragging [about] for the past year. Kung talagang matibay kami, ito na talaga yung pinakamagandang test,” coach YnoT said, showing his enthusiasm to take on greater challenges ahead.
