China's FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) and Europe's G2 Esports will vie for the League of Legends World Championship after taking care of business against top-caliber teams in the semifinals.

Both FPX and G2 bested former world champions to earn their spots in one of esports' premier title series.

FPX, LoL Pro League's (China) No. 1 seed, defeated fellow Chinese team and defending champs Invictus Gaming on Saturday, 3-1. The following day, G2 trounced tournament favorites and three-time world champion SKT Telecom T1, 3-1, to arrange the second-straight China-Europe finals.

G2 versus SKT also became the most-watched esports match, peaking at almost four million unique viewers.

With G2's win, the continent's hopes of completing the competitive season grand slam live on. The Euro top dogs have already won both spring and summer legs of League of Legends European Championship as the first Western team to win the Mid-Season Invitational last June.

FPX, on the other hand, is out to defend the pride of its region and become the second Chinese squad to lift the prestigious Summoner's Cup.

The League of Legends World Championship grand finals will happen on Sunday 8 p.m. Philippine time.
