THE QUEST FOR redemption has finally ended.

When Blacklist International unveiled their Dota 2 squad, there was hope for Philippine Dota. Seeing an ensemble cast of the Philippines' best mixed with some foreign influx of players could spearhead another miracle in the scene. Will this be another iteration of the Miracle of TI6?

Unfortunately in one sudden swoop, it was time to say goodbye. Blacklist Rivalry announced on their social media pages, a cryptic message signalling the end.

"After two years of working with Rivalry to bring Blacklist to the Dota scene, this chapter of our history is coming to a close," the org started.

Blacklist tried everything to fulfill their mission of revitalizing Philippine Dota, from assembling the biggest names in Philippine Dota, to acquiring foreign talent. Throughout their journey, the Codebreakers were able to compete in Major Events like Riyadh Masters and Bali Major, however they only lasted in the Group Stages.

But as for the ultimate dream of reaching The International, their attempts were futile. A second place finish in The International 2023 Closed Qualifiers in Southeast Asia was the farthest result that the team experienced.

"Our redemption story has been followed by the community in all our ups and downs. From the first version of our squad when we brought together the legendary names of Philippine DOTA, to being able to do what the community said was impossible by bringing one of the best Filipino player home in Abed Yusop," continued the post.

What's next for Blacklist?

In the end, they remained grateful to the community and to the people who tried their best to bring the club's dreams to fruition.

"No one can deny that Blacklist Rivalry fought hard to fulfill the mission. Whether you love us or hate us, one thing is for sure: you followed us throughout this journey. And for that, we are thankful."

"Unfortunately, even the greatest of stories must come to an end. We are incredibly thankful for each and every player and coach that has been part of the team. Their contributions to the Blacklist culture will always remain a part of our history."

But there could be hints that the team might once again open the doors for Dota 2.

"As of today, the redemption story is now officially over. But the mission, as always, will never end."

Blacklist's Dota 2 roster before their departure consisted of the likes of John Anthony "Natsumi-" Vargas, Abed "Abed" Yusop, Kim Villafuerte "Gabbi" Santos, Timothy "TIMS" Randrup, and Jaunuel "Jaunuel" Arcilla.

So far, TIMS was able to find a new team as he joins BOOM Esports.
